EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Foro Penal
In 2018, representatives from Foro Penal visited Texas A&M University for a discussion on human rights and political imprisonment in Venezuela. The event gave attendees an opportunity about Foro Penal's work documenting human rights cases and providing assistance to individuals and families affected by political persecution.
Un Par Por Un Sueño
In 2021, VENSA collected more than 300 pairs of shoes to support communities in Caracas, Venezuela, through a partnership with Un Par Por Un Sueño. The organization works to support children and families through food assistance, healthcare, education, sports, and recreational programs.
Carlos Vecchio
In March 2020, Venezuelan Ambassador to the United States, Carlos Vecchio visited Texas A&M University for a discussion on Venezuela, democracy, and the challenges the country of Venezuela is facing. The event brought together over 600 attendees, making it Ambassador Vecchio's most-attended presentation at the time. In recognition of the event's impact, VENSA recieved the MSC Co-Program of the Year Award.
David Smolansky
In 2026, VENSA hosted "Venezuela: Migration and Governance in Latin America" in collaboration with the Latin American Politics Organization (LAPO) featuring Venezuelan political leader and activist, David Smolanksy as a guest speaker. The event brought students together for a meaningful discussion on Venezuelan migration, governance, and broader challenges that Latin America is facing. In addition, the event marked VENSA and LAPO's first joint speaker initiative, creating a space for students to engage directly with important issues affecting Venezuela and the region.
